Luke is 7 months!

Baby Luke is 7 months old!  I can't believe it!  I truly don't remember life before him.

We're recovering from another bout of bronchiolitis (poor little guy can't catch a break), and we happened to go to the doctor on his 7-month birthday.  Our tall, skinny boy weighed 17 pounds, 7 ounces.

Luke is still a pretty chill baby!  Except poor guy keeps getting sick, so he's definitely been a little more fussy and attached lately, which is totally understandable!  He is still mostly happy and smiley and easy. :)

He is getting his top two teeth!  One poked through a couple days ago, and the other is right behind it.  It looks like he will have a giant gap between his front teeth, like sister has and mommy had. ;)

We've been struggling a bit to get on a specific schedule, mostly because he's been sick so often, having two kids is hard, and we've honestly been in survival mode many days.  Real life!  But generally he still eats 5 times a day (nurses 4 times and bottle once), and he takes 2-3 naps a day.  He goes to sleep around 7:30 pm, and he wakes up between 6-7 am.  He is still waking up at night.  He'll usually wake up at least a couple times crying, but he doesn't want to eat, he just wants us to hold him and comfort him.  He is a very unpredictable sleeper, so we just wing it.  

We've been slow to introduce solids with Luke.  At first he loved food!  We were just doing purees.  Then he was having tummy troubles.  Then he decided he wasn't very into food.  Then he got sick again, and we completely stopped trying for a few days.  We're just not putting pressure on it and going with the flow.

Luke loves:

- Perry! They have started "playing" together a little bit, and they just love each other so much.

- His dump truck!  This might be his favorite toy right now?  He also really loves chewing on tags and strings and closing the window on the "house toy".  

- Peek-a-boo!  He will smile so big and laugh when we play it!

- Bathtime!

- Swinging!

- Being held or facing outwards in the Baby Bjorn

- Kicking!  Constantly.

6-month pictures

We snapped some pictures a few weeks ago of my sweet 6-month old!  John and I were not dressed for pictures, but we also got a few sweet ones of Luke with Mumsie and Popsie!

Valentine's Day and Rodeo!

Perry had a Valentine party at school the day before Valentine's Day.  They made friendship soup and passed out Valentine's to their friends...

The kids and I just played during the day, then we decided to check out the Katy rodeo that evening!  It was so fun!  Perry loved watching the cowgirls and eating her hot dog.  She went down for the stick horse race, but didn't want to actually participate in the race.  She looked cute trying! ;)

We had to leave early to get Luke to bed, but we'll definitely be back next year.  It was a fun way to spend the evening with my Valentines!

Pony tails and Piggy tails...

Perry finally has enough hair for a ponytail and pigtails, and I cannot get over the cuteness!  I've waited for this for 2.5 years! :)

Baby's first food

We started giving Luke purees about a week ago, and he loooooooooves food!!  We have only given him oatmeal, butternut squash, green beans, and sweet potatoes so far, but he is obsessed with it all and gets sad when it's gone!  Perry really likes to feed him for us, which is sweet, but also slightly annoying. ;) 

It's fun to see him get so excited for new foods!

Luke is 6 months!

Luke Robert is SIX whole months!  Happy half birthday, Bubba!

Height:  27.75 in. (89%)

Weight:  16 lbs. 7 oz. (28%)

Oops, I never posted when he turned 5 months...second child problems/mom fail!  So we'll just go ahead and recap the last couple of months ;)

In the last 2 months, he's had a few firsts:

- First laughs!  This happened right after he turned 4 months.

- First real sicknesses:  He had bronchiolitis back in December, and a worse case again in January (see previous post).  Poor guy!

- First plane ride!  We went to Milwaukee after Christmas.

- First teeth!!  He got his two bottom teeth at around 5.5 months!  They're so cute.  However, teething hits this baby pretty hard!  He was in a lot of pain and couldn't sleep, even with Tylenol.  Perry was never bothered when she got teeth, so we were a little surprised by this.

Luke has remained a pretty happy, smiley, and content baby!  When he's awake at least ;)  His sleeping has regressed since getting sick the first time back in December.  He wakes up several times a night and has a hard time going back to sleep.  We often end up holding him to sleep for a few hours.  He starts his day around 6:45-7, and he goes to sleep around 7:30.  He is eating 5 times a day (about every 3 hours) and taking 3 naps a day.

He is finally rolling over both ways, although he still picks and chooses when he wants to.  He's not very into it.  He's more into practicing sitting up, "standing" in his joovy walker, or being held. :)  He has found his feet this month and is finding his voice more and more!

A few of Luke's LOVES include:

- His sister!  Perry is his favorite person.  He will just stare at her and smile.

- Being thrown up in the air!  This makes him laugh more than anything else.

- TV.  This one is embarrassing, but when Perry is watching Daniel Tiger, he can't keep his eyes off. 

- Tylenol.  This one is funny too, but when we have given him Tylenol, he loves it so much. 

- Chewing on everything!

- BATHTIME!  He always calms down in the bath.  We have recently started doing bathtime for Luke and Perry together, and he loves sitting there watching his sister.

- Bottles.  Nursing is still going well, but he loooooooves his bottles.
